1. Overview
The Microsoft® .NET Compact Framework 2.0 Redistributable contains the common language runtime and class libraries built for the .NET Compact Framework. In addition to supporting version 2.0, it also supports applications developed for version 1.0 and service pack releases before version 2.0.
Important: This redistributable enables running .NET Compact Framework applications on the Pocket PC, Pocket PC Phone Edition, Smartphone, and other Windows CE powered devices.
The setup uses ActiveSync 4.0 and above to update the device, see the Windows Mobile Center for more information. Be sure to dock your device first before running the setup. If your device is not docked, ActiveSync will store the CAB file until the time when you dock your device. Those not using ActiveSync can run the CAB files which match the device found in the install folder directly on the device.

2. What version do I have at the moment?
Some devices may already come with version 2.0 already installed, but if not, you can download the update from the Motor Stroller website by clicking here.
Chances are you will not know what version your device has installed.
To find out, select Start | Programs | File Explorer.
Now go to My Device\windows using File Explorer.
Run the program called "cgacutil". This will tell you the exact version your device has installed, for example:
You can see here that Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 1.0 is installed.
As the version is less than 2.0, we will need to update it.
3. Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 2.0
Before installing, please check the following:
Step 1
Download Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 2.0 by clicking here.
Step 2
Run the downloaded setup file.
The Welcome screen will appear. Click Next to continue.
Step 3
The next screen shows an overview of the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 2.0 update.
When you are ready, click Next.
Step 4
Before Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 2.0 is installed on your device, the setup program will extract files and place them in a directory on your PC. Accept the default folder or enter your preferred folder.
When you are ready to continue, click Next.
Step 5
You will then be prompted to select the components to install.
The option Microsoft .NET CF Info only installs a read me file on your device.
Ensure you select .NET CompactFramework v2 Runtimes option.
As there are many different types of devices, the installation caters for all of them, hence the 31.9MB file.
During the installation, the setup will determine which type of device you have and install the correct version for you.
The amount of space required on your device is approximately 5MB.
You can choose to install this on a storage card if you have one.
Step 6
Once the Microsoft .NET Framework update has been installed, you will be prompted to restart your device.
Once your device has restarted, you will then be able to run .NET Compact Framework 2.0 applications such as QuickDial.
